Panel discussion

Panel with the Equality Offices of the Cities of Basel, Bern, and Lucerne
@ Photobastei Zurich

Equality offices play a central role in promoting equal opportunities and supporting LGBTIQ people in various areas of life. Their mission is to reduce discrimination, enhance visibility, and create inclusive structures.

Intersex people remain invisible in many areas of society.

Urs Vanessa Sager, an intersex person, will discuss various topics with representatives from the equality offices of Basel, Bern, and Lucerne. The discussion will cover the responsibilities and services of these institutions as well as the challenges in implementing them.

What can these offices do to promote visibility, reduce prejudice, and enhance social recognition for intersex people?

At the Varia Festival «I do exist», we are creating visibility and breaking down prejudices. The festival puts a spotlight on people with gender variations, combining art and education through an art exhibition, dance events, and open discussions.
We are a community that stands against non-consensual surgeries and fights for a better future for intersex people – in a diverse and tolerant society. Varia Festival invites everyone to join the conversation, learn from one another, and build a deeper understanding of people with gender variations.
Together, we stand for diversity and acceptance.
